As promised, today I am discussing office friendly outfits for summer. It’s almost impossible to look dandy in this heat regardless how well air-conditioned your office is, since there is the hiatus of going over there and maybe you would like to grab a late lunch after work and still look fresh. The perfect summer & office friendly outfit will essentially include a linen dress. Here are tips on how to chose the right outfit:
THE DRESS: Linen dresses are an excellent choice for a summer work outfit. Maybe for most of you linen rings a bell to a not-so-good-old-lady-looking style, but the right choice of cut and colour can make you look quite elegant and the natural feel of the linen will keep you comfortable in the heat. Go for knee length, kimono or sleeves or a wrap model. Puffy skirts are a better choice than pencil cuts since linen does not stretch. Cream, caramel, grey and black are the most often and safest choices of colour and are also easier to accessorize, but you are free to go for bold colours as well, such as yellow, red or orange. I wouldn’t recommend white for office.
THE PUMPS: Footwear seems to be the biggest problem in summer because unless you are a high heel natural, those pumps will pump out your energy under the sun. My suggestion is you go for models with front platform to balance the height and a wide square heel. If you chose a neutral colour for the dress, splash some summer on your heels.
- THE WEDGES: If you are not so comfortable in pumps opt for sandals with full platform sole, known as wedges, given you don’t exaggerate with the model and look like you’re headed for the beach or a pool party. The platform appropriate for work should be smooth, preferably wood or cork. I don’t recommend jute covered platforms for an office look. The choice of handbags applies here as well.
