A Love Story

I liked you.
no, loved you.
honestly,
lovingly,
dreamily,
I fearlessly loved you.

you with your wisdom,
I with my craziness.

sinking into your shortcomings,
I wrote about your emptiness.

I got hooked on
your inconstancy
and the schizophrenic rhythm
of your nights and mornings
excited me.

I don’t like you anymore.

I just still love you.
the way you are now:
defaced,
desouled,
decapitated.

what they’ve done to us
my beautiful city?
just when I found you,
they killed you!

те сакав.
не, те љубев.
искрено,
занесно,
занесено,
бестрашно
те љубев.

ти со твојата мудрост,
јас со мојата лудост.

тонев во твоите недоречености,
пишував за твојата празнотија.

се навлеков
на твојата непостојаност
и ме возбудуваше
шизофреничниот ритам
на твоите ноќи и утра.

веќе не те сакам.
само уште те љубам.
таков:
обезличен,
обездушен,
обезглавен.

што ли ни направија,
убав мој граду?
токму те најдов,
те убија!

  1. Sad but beautiful. History is unstoppable, whether or not it is progress, but artists leave behind trinkets of memory in every step, cataloging the change, and sometimes lamenting the loss. May this poem endure. 🙂
